A person who is arrested or incarcerated has the right to serve his or her time free from cruel and unusual punishment. Unfortunately, this is all too often forgotten or lost in our prison system. Denials of appropriate medical care can lead to the serious injury or wrongful death of an inmate. Unreasonable placement in solitary confinement, brutality by guards or other inmates, and denial of basic needs can often make serving a sentence disproportionately difficult. At Edwards Kirby, we help inmates and their families recover for injuries that occurred as a result of these violations, and safeguard other prisoners against ongoing violations. Please contact us if you or your loved one has suffered from a violation of their civil rights while incarcerated.
